MANUAL OPERATION

In all seriousness, operating the system manually would only need to occur if there were a catastrophic failure of equipment. With that said, in order to manually operate any of the audio-visual equipment, you should undertake a clear understanding of its signal flow and components.

Please take a moment to read through the FAQ section and equipment manuals, to familiarize yourself with the equipment.

General Signal Flow. (Self Service Mode)

Video is fed to the projector from a video router, yet the audio component goes to the audio DSP, before it makes its way to the amplifiers. This is an important piece of information to keep at the back of your mind while trying to fix a problem.

Before you even attempt any form of manual control, you should check the following.

Is there video?
If Yes: Great job! This means the video router is working.
If No: first check your HDMI cable.
If there is still no Video, check where you are plugged into, try changing to a different input. If that cleared the problem, then great! If not, try manually routing the video using the router page on the touch panel. If that worked, great! If not, the only other route would be to attach the device directly into the projector, but if you do this, be aware there will be no audio at that point.

Audio

Now let’s look at the audio. When you route Video, is there audio?
If Yes, Great job!
If No, then is the audio muted on the touch panel?
If Yes Un-Mute and there should be audio.
If No, then there is a good chance that the amplifiers are off-line.

To fix this do the following.

First check the QSC audio DSP in the rack, if you see a power light, then all is good.
Next is the hard part, check the amplifiers to see if you have green lights. You can see these just by looking at the front. If you see Red lights, you will need to have your maintenance group power-cycle each amplifier one by one. This may take a few minutes until each amplifier establishes contact with the DSP. If the amps now turn green, then they have established the connection and you will have audio again.

Fundimentals of Audio-Visual

How to operate audiovisual equipment will be easy if you follow the manufacturer’s instructions or seek assistance from people with technical know-how. If you are renting audiovisual equipment, familiarize yourself with the terms in the contract. Coordinate with the audiovisual team about your goals.
